The official US rating is R, and we never go below it. Alone from 17, and not before, even with an adult.

The sweet spot: around 17, when you know what the Soviet Union was, and can follow a story of contracts like a game you want to win. Why a sweet spot?

Official US rating: R. In France, zinema would say 10.

What it's about

In 1988, American video game salesman Henk Rogers discovers the video game Tetris. When he sets out to bring the game to the world, he enters a dangerous web of lies and corruption behind the Iron Curtain.

Why 17

The official rating, firstRated R in the US (restricted, under 17 requires an accompanying parent). zinema never goes below the country's rating: it explains it.
rule
Businessmen's swearingAround sixty swear words, many of them strong: it is the language of negotiations and tempers, all the way through.
The KGB, threats and a chaseIn Moscow, a KGB agent watches, threatens and hits: a woman shoved, a man beaten in a stairwell, an apartment ransacked, and a car chase to the airport with gunfire. Prison and death are discussed, nobody dies.
Soviet vodka and cigarettesBoozy evenings, cigarettes in offices, an English businessman who cheats everyone; nothing sexual.

What the movie brings

The true story of a game your child knows, and of the man who risked his house for it.
The Soviet Union of 1988 explained through a contract: who owns what, and why you cannot simply buy.
The pleasure of puzzles, in the story itself, cut like a game level.

Watching it together

Before

Warn about the language; after that, it is a film that makes you want to understand how contracts and the Cold War worked.

After

at 17 and up

Alexey invented Tetris and earned nothing for years: was that fair?
