An armed villainA cold, ambitious man points a revolver at the two children and shoots off the girl's braids to frighten her. He ends up blinded and swept away in the collapse.
Two orphans in dangerThe girl is kidnapped and locked up, and the boy searches for her alone; they often come close to falling into the void. She cries several times, and younger viewers will want someone beside them.
