From 13, alone or with a parent.
Alone, or with you
The official US rating is PG-13, and we never go below it. Alone from 13, and not before, even with an adult.
The sweet spot: around 13, when you like science at school, and can follow a man alone counting his potatoes and his days for two hours. Why a sweet spot?
Official US rating: PG-13. In France, zinema would say 9.
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
Warn about the stapler scene at the start; after that, let it run, it is a film that makes kids curious.
at 13 and up
Mark Watney solves his problems one at a time: which would you start with if you were alone up there?
