What it's about

One man's campaign for vengeance takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as Beekeepers.

Why 17

The official rating, firstRated R in the US (restricted, under 17 requires an accompanying parent); 16 ans in France. zinema never goes below the country's rating: it explains it.
rule
A revenge that never stopsThe hero burns down a call centre with its employees inside, cuts off fingers, ties a man to a truck, throws another off a building, and the film goes on like that to the end, without pause or remorse. Two hundred shots of guns, a death every five minutes.
An old woman driven to suicideThe starting point is a phone scam that empties a retired woman's accounts; she kills herself the same evening. The suicide is spoken of several times and weighs on the whole film.
The crudest languageA hundred and seventy-five swear words, insults in every scene.

What the movie brings

An old-fashioned revenge film, cleanly built, for a teenager who likes the genre.
A real scam, the fake tech-support calls that target the elderly, explained better than an article.
A hero who barely speaks and whose every act is a rule: plenty to discuss about taking justice into your own hands.

Watching it together

Before

A teenager will see the mechanics and the wink; a younger child will see a man torturing people. Not a film to share before sixteen, however much it is asked for.

After

at 17 and up

The hero says he protects the hive: who decides what is fair when the law does not?
