What it's about

A determined man embarks on a high-stakes quest, and defies seemingly impossible odds, to fulfill his dream of being the first to reach the summit of Mount Everest.

Above the official rating, and whyRated PG in the US (parental guidance suggested). We say 10: The dangers of high-altitude climbing, a crevasse, storms, death always possible but never shown, porters treated unfairly and a lot of smoking. Ten on their own, nine with a parent.

The mountain is dangerousA climber slips into a crevasse and hangs over the void before being caught on the rope. Storms, extreme cold, nights in a tent: the fear comes from nature, never from a villain, and nothing gruesome is shown.

Death is always possiblePeople often talk about the risk of dying up there: an avalanche, the cold that puts you to sleep, a famous climber lost on this mountain. Nobody dies on screen, but the threat is there from start to finish.

What the movie brings

The film tells the true story of a man who never let go of his dream, and reminds us that Sherpas were at the heart of the conquest of Everest. It also shows friendship and trust between two climbers roped together.
