- A menacing enemy and long dark stretchesThe villain is a real presence here, with growling, roaring sounds and a face that lands hard on screen, and nearly half the movie plays out in near darkness. Younger kids tend to hold their breath through this kind of sustained gloom rather than enjoy it.
- Death, talked about and shownKilling, murder and dying come up again and again in the dialogue, and bodies are visible on screen at several points. The story turns on revenge, so loss is not a background detail, it is the engine.
- Guns, fights and fire, nonstopGunfire, blades, hand to hand fights and burning wreckage run through the whole film, at a cutting pace that rarely lets up. It is comic book action rather than realistic brutality, but the volume of it is high and the rhythm is relentless.
- Rough language and drinkingIn the original English there is regular swearing and name calling, plus alcohol on screen and in the dialogue, and repeated smoking that is treated as part of a character's style rather than as a problem. The French dub is far milder on the words.
- Romance in the mixThere are kisses and a couple of suggestive lines, nothing explicit, but the tone is more grown up than a family superhero adventure aimed at little kids.
