not yetwith an adult, or to talk about afteralonethe sweet spot
The official US rating is TV-MA, and we never go below it. Alone from 17, and not before, even with an adult.
The sweet spot: around 17, when they love puzzles, disguises and elaborate heists across Paris, and can hear that a father they look up to can also let his children down. Why a sweet spot?

Deaths told, guns drawnAssane's father hanged in his cell, a journalist murdered, a killer strangled in an apartment, an inmate found hanged in the showers: these deaths are told or glimpsed, and the camera barely lingers. In seasons 1 and 2, guns get pointed often but rarely fired, and the close-up blood comes down to one fight and one fall in season 2.
A kidnapped child, cruel gangstersIn season 1, Raoul, 14, is kidnapped: we hear him calling for help, locked away, while his father searches for him in a panic. In season 2, a gang boss plays “an ace or you're dead” with a plastic bag over a man's head, and in a flashback, a neighborhood mentor forces a teenager to shoot during a police chase. These are the hardest scenes of the first two seasons.
A shootout, a hostage, a beatingSeason 3 has more action: a prison riot; a police officer found bloodied among shards of glass, for a single shot; a shootout in the dark of underground passages, where a young woman is hit in the shoulder, the wound shown for two seconds while it's being treated; a young man beaten up, his mouth bloody; and a gagged hostage with a bomb strapped to her chest, in two short scenes.
A brief, discreet love sceneIn season 3, a flashback shows two young lovers making love, about twenty seconds of dark close-ups: kissing, a hand on a bare back, no other nudity. Elsewhere, some kissing and a few comic innuendos.
Racism, and a missing father“Apparently they can't swim,” a shop that won't rent a violin to a girl because she's “a Black guy's friend,” a rich man forbidding his daughter to see “those people”: the series names the racism Assane has faced since his teens, and season 3 finds it again among wealthy men obsessed with their “bloodline.” It also tells of a son growing up without his father, a mother who left him, and a man who breaks every promise to his own son. Frequent swearing, with smoking and drinking in the background.
